Toddler Learning Sounds in The Kitchen

I care for twenty months old Sara once a week.  It was a morning.  I played with Sara for some time.  I could not play with her the whole time.  I had to cook lunch for my children and Sara.  I didn't like to leave Sara alone in the visiting room.  So I asked to her to come in the kitchen with me.  I was busy with cooking.  but not with closed mouth.  I had a good conversation with Sara.  Sara found my kitchen very interesting.  She way busy with exploring the kitchen.  I was so particular about the dangerous things like knives and glasses.  I always keep them in the upper cupboards.
Suddenly Sara wanted to take a metal lid of a small pot, which was on the table.  As she is not tall enough to take it easily, the metal lid fall on the kitchen flour with a big noise.  Sara found the noise very interesting.    She took the lid and let it fell again and again.  I understood that she is doing some experiments with the sounds from the lid.  She looked my face to learn whether I was noticing her new play.  Actually she wanted me to observe her.  So I spoke about her play while cooking.
Sara had not finished the play.  she took the lid and let it fall on variety of places.  On the carpet; on a paper; in a basket; in a cardboard box and on the kitchen chair.  She notice that the metal lid is making different noises when meeting with different kind of things.  though she could not explain about her experience she learnt some thing about noises and objects which make noises.  Yes, it was a good lesson for Sara.
Not only Sara,  toddlers all over the world learn many things through play activities like this.  As parents, what is our part here.  First we should understand and understand that these sort of activities are not time passing activities.  We should accept that toddlers are learning through these sort of activities.  Then we should observe our toddlers when they are playing like this.  Toddlers like to be observed when they are playing.  The last things is we should turn our conversation topic about their play activity.  That is a suitable time to introduce many new words.  Don't forget, security of your toddler is very important

Children misbehave themselves after coming from school as they are tired and hungry. Here are some tips to stop this misbehavior

Many mothers are complaining that their children misbehave themselves after coming from school. There is a reason for this behavior. Children have to work hard at school. Because of their business much energy is spent from them. They are so tired and hungry, when coming from school. They come in different moods also. They will be in happy mood, if they get good marks in their lessons or they are admired by their teachers. They will be in sad mood, if they get poor marks in their lessons. They will be in an angry mood, if they have problems with their friends or with other children.

When children are hungry and tired, they create many problems. They may shout for every thing; they may quarrel with each other or with you; They may untidy up the room; they may make big noise; They may be disobedient. They may show poor eating habit. These sort of behaviors can create unpleasant and critical situations. As you are also a busy and tired mother, you may also loose your temper.

Here are some tips to solve this problems and make a pleasing situation:
  • Tidy up the house to give them feel happy and relaxed after coming from school.
  • Arrange the dining table with colorful nutritional lunch. Add one or two of their favorite dishes.
  • Have lunch with them. Don't engage yourself with any other works.

Give positive advices to solve their problems. Meal time is not a time to correct the children. It should have full of happiness. Give enough time to have lunch. don't hurry them up.
  • After the lunch make them to do their school home work. Some children like to do their home work all alone in their room. Some children like to do it at the dining table with their mother or father. Declare that a quite time. They need time to regain the energy, which they spent in school.

Develop Learning Skill in Your Baby Through Affectionate Care

What is learning? We can simply say, getting to know the environment or the world. When does a child starts to learn?: A child starts to learn just after its birth. For a formal learning like school learning, language is very important.  Language connects the teacher and the child. But at early stage your baby knows no language. It can't understand what others speak. It can't speak out what it thinks. But your baby learns through its five senses. Your baby does its learning  by exploring its environment. Its five senses help it to explore things. For example, if a five month old baby is given a toy, it will explore the toy touching it, smelling it, tasting it, hearing it and seeing it. When your baby grows its environment will also become broader. Then your child has so many things to learn and explore.
Independent learning is very important in early childhood. Babies and small children like to explore things, which they are interested in. You can't force your baby or small child to learn what you like. But you can encourage your baby's learning activities. To encourage your baby's learning activities, you should understand one thing: Small children explore their environment, only if they trust in their environment. If your baby is scared of the environment or if it thinks there is a danger in the environment, it will never explore it.
How to make your baby or small child trust in the environment. You can make your baby or small child trust in it through your affectionate care. There is no doubt. You love your baby so much. But you should show your love to your baby through affectionate care. As your baby is dependent, it needs your presence to meet its needs, while playing or exploring the environment. Your baby wants you to help it in its problems. Your baby likes to be observed while it is playing successfully. It likes to be admired by you for its success or achievement. And it likes to be comforted when it have fails in its play activities.
If you are there to help, observe, praise and comfort your baby while it is playing,  your baby will definitely trust in its environment. If your baby trusts in its environment it will automatically start its independent learning activities by exploring its environment.
Final note: Spend lots of time to be with your baby or small child to give affectionate care. The more time you spend with your baby, the more your baby will learn

Lack of sleep is a big problem that new parents face. Here are some tips to have enough sleep for new parents.

It is always happy to have a new baby for new young parents.  but having lack of sleep is a big problem, which new parents face.  Luckily there are some tips to help new parents to have enough sleep when the new baby comes.  Actually , with a new baby you will never get an over abundance sleep.  But I hope these tips will help you at least get enough sleep to keep sanity.
1.  Take turns:  When the newborn baby starts both parents wake up, though only one attends to the baby.  In the first couple of months both parents might get up each time the baby cries.  This may lead to lack of sleep for both parents.  The best idea is to make a plane of who will get up when the baby cries to comfort the baby.  Actually, taking turns is a good option and will help everyone get just a little more sleep.
2.  Have a nap with your baby:  This will give much needed sleep.  this nap time can be mornings, afternoons or early evenings.  You may feel an extra strength after your nap to care for your baby and do other house work.
3.  Get help from others:  These others can be your parents, siblings, friends or neighbors. Definitely, they may like to help you.  Just hand over your baby in their loving hands and have enough sleep till you feel satisfaction.
4.  Feed your baby before you sleep:  Most of the babies wake during the night because they are hungry.  So if you feed your baby late before you go to bed.  Your baby will sleep until early morning, if it is not hungry.  This will allow you to get some continuous sleep.
5. Change your baby's diaper before you go to sleep:  All babies wake during the night when their diaper is full and wet also.  If your baby is in a new dry diaper your baby will sleep continuously and let you have enough sleep.
6.  Arrange a babysitter:  If you are able to pay for a babysitter just arrange a babysitter for one or two hour once a day or once a week.  Have a nap when your baby is being cared by the babysitter.

Specially, new fathers must understand that a new mother should have enough sleep to regain her energy.  A sleepy mother can not care for her baby well.  Having enough sleep is a must.  so select a suitable method and have enough sleep.

How to Handle The Refusal to Eat

Feeding small children is a challenge to mothers because of their refusal.

Most of the mothers used to complain that their todllers often refuse food.  Feeding their toddlers nutrient meals is a big challenge for many mothers. There may be two reasons for the  refusal of toddlers.
1.  They refuse food when they are not hungry.
2.  They refuse food to assert their newly found independence.
The cause for refusal is not important here.  How to cope with this refusal is important here.
1.  Don't force them to eat.
2.  Don't give punishment for their refusal.
3.  Don't give less nutritious food or junk foods as substitute.
You should understand one thing: Children will never let them starve.  Hunger will definitely win the refusal.  So, Just ignore their refusal.
At the same time there are some ways to increase a toddlers hunger.  Before the meal time the toddler can be brought out for a walk  or the toddler can be let play with ball.  This sort of energy consuming activities definitely bring hunger in them.  But the mothers should note one thing  the children will not have enough meal when they are too tired.  so there should be a small resting time in between energy consuming play activity and meal time.
Summary:  Toddlers used to refuse meals.  They should not be forced to have meals and should not be punished for their refusals.  Just ignore their refusal is good.  Energy consuming activities may help to increase hunger in toddlers.  Toddlers will not have enough meals when they are too tired.

Climbing-Pysical and learning activity

Small children love to play in the garden.  They also love climbing the trees. Yes, this a good exercise for them.      Gross motor skills should be developed in children.  No doubt, climbing is a suitable exercise for gross motor(big muscles in the hands and legs) development.

Other than that children get chances to learn about their environment by activities like this.  Learning by exploring the environment is their nature.   The practical knowledge, which they get through these sort of activities, will definitely help them in the school learning.

As parents we should give opportunities for our children to play in the nature.  We should allow our children to enjoy the fresh air and sun shine.   At the same time we have the responsibility for their security.   Children should never be unattended.  They always need helping hands wen they are out.
